Who's Being Paid?

One of the earliest lies that Elon Musk spread about DOGE was that it was staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers, who were forgoing a salary to work for a limited time as Special Government Employees. While this was certainly true for some suckers, there were multiple people in DOGE who were paid from the very start. Over time, other DOGE staff have been converted from provisional voluntary status to full-time government personnel, often at elevated ranks and salaries. This page collects info on all the known paid positions held by DOGE staff, it is likely an undercount.

There are multiple places where salary information could be sourced from. In some cases, the exact salary was provided on an SF-50 form for new employees. In other cases, only the General Scale (GS) pay grade is provided, and I will estimate based on a possible range for that salary with the DC locality adjustment. Many of the DOGE staff with salaries are compensated extremely well, with several of them being paid the maximum amount for General Scale employees (GS-15, step 10) despite only having a few years of experience.
